Adventures for the Whole Family

 

Welcome to Veterans Park!

Are you ready to experience a park with top-notch equipment and activities that you usually don't find in a small town like Stockbridge? Our park promises an unforgettable experience filled with sports, recreation, and organized activities. Come and explore the endless possibilities that await you – a place where excitement, well-being, and community spirit converge.

 

Recreation Coordinator: Hunter Lega, has been hired by the Stockbridge Area Wellness Coalition, the Village of Stockbridge, and the Stockbridge DDA, for 10 weeks in the summer to coordinate outdoor recreation activities at Veterans Park. He will oversee a "lending library" of equipment and schedule activities. He can be reached at hlega@stockbridedda.org

Pump Track: Get ready to embrace the thrill of our state-of-the-art pump track. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or just starting out, the pump track offers an exhilarating experience for bikers of all levels. Feel the rush as you navigate the twists and turns, mastering the art of momentum and control. Funded by the SDDA, the pump track opened on July 8, 2023.

Pickleball: Join the fastest-growing racket sport in the country at our pickleball courts. Perfect for players of all ages, pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, providing a dynamic and social way to stay active. The Stockbridge Library has pickleball equipment for anyone to borrow.

Gaga Ball:  Dodge, dip, and dive your way to victory in this fun and fast-paced game that's a fantastic way to get moving and make new friends. Players hit a ball toward other players' lower legs. A player is out if hit on or below the knee. Last one out is the winner. Funded by: Positively Chiropractic, Stockbridge Area Wellness Coalition/5 Healthy Towns Foundation, Adiska Contracting, and the SDDA.

Exercise Circuit Equipment: Stay in shape outside at the park on our circuit equipment. From strength training to cardiovascular workouts, our outdoor fitness station offers a convenient and invigorating way to keep fit. funded by a grant from Ingham County Trails and Park millage.

Volleyball: Set, spike, and serve your way to victory on our well-maintained sand volleyball court. Co-ed, open-to-all competitive volleyball is held Fridays at 6:00 p.m. The Stockbridge Area Wellness Coalition paid for the refurbishing of the sand volley ball court in the Fall of 2022. 

Skateboard Ramps: Calling all skateboarders! Our skateboard park has ramps, rails, and various obstacles to conquer. Bring your friends and practice your tricks and stunts. Funded by the Stockbridge DDA and a grant from Ingham County Trails and Park millage.

Tennis Courts: Sharpen your skills on our professional-grade tennis courts. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, our courts offer an ideal setting for matches and practice. Gather your tennis buddies and enjoy a spirited game or two in the great outdoors. Funded by the Stockbridge DDA.

Stockbridge StoryWalk®: The StoryWalk® follows the paved track around the park, sponsored by the Capital Area District Library, Stockbridge Branch. Follow My Friend Rabbit on a moving story around the park!

Storage Facility & Equipment: Sport and recreation equipment for community use is available from a new storage facility, right at Veterans Park! Funded by the Stockbridge Area Wellness Coalition, The State Bank, Stockbridge Lions Club, and Howlett Tree Farm.

Playground Equipment: Swings, sand, slides, and spring riders offer fun for all ages! There are two different play structures, one for older kids and one for the little ones. Plus bucket swings, a tire swing, and belt swings for flying high.

Picnic & Event Venues: Enjoy a picnic or even a cookout at the park at our pavilion shelters. Contact the Village of Stockbridge for more information about holding an event at the park. 

 

Early On Parent/Child Playgroups, into August:

 

TuesdaysThese groups are free for families with children birth to 5 years old. For Safety reasons, we limit our play groups to 10-15 children.  Families are required to register at the Ingham ISD Website. Two Groups to chose from:
•   9:45 to 10:45 a.m. 
•   11:00 a.m. to Noon

 

Sports & Recreation, into August:

 

  • Youth Basketball: ages 8 to 12 years, 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesdays, Instructor Hunter Lega.

  • Pickleball: All ages, beginning to intermediate levels, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesdays

  • Volleyball: Co-ed, Competitive, 6:00 p.m. Fridays, Coordinator Cyndi Eber
